Ursula Seewald

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ursula Voigt Seewald, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on June 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Ursula was at home, enveloped in the love of her family, as she bravely concluded her battle with esophagus cancer and kidney failure.

Ursula was born on December 11, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Paul and Ilse Voigt. From her early days, she radiated warmth, kindness, and a welcoming spirit that touched everyone she met. Her heart was as expansive as her smile, always ready to offer comfort and support to those in need.

In a loving union, Ursula married Roger Seewald, with whom she shared a life filled with laughter, joy, and the blessing of six wonderful children: Paul (Cynthia), Christine (Greg), David, John (Syd), Carol (Michael) and Kerry. Together, Ursula and Roger created a home brimming with love, where their children learned the values of compassion, kindness, love, and community.

Ursula was predeceased by her dear husband Roger, her daughter Kerry Lingford, her parents Paul and Ilse Voigt, her sister Erika, brother-in-law Bishop Edwin Leidel, brother in-laws Russell Seewald and Daryl Nerby, and sister in-law Susan Seewald and several cherished friends and family members who undoubtedly welcomed her into heaven with open arms.

A devoted homemaker, Ursula also shared her talents at a German Christmas store in Germantown, Wisconsin, bringing joy and cheer to the community while living with her daughter Carol and her family. Her career, though modest, was marked by her dedication and the warmth she brought to every interaction.

A woman of deep faith, Ursula was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and later joined Grace in Glendale, Arizona. Her spiritual community was a source of strength and solace for her throughout her life.

Ursula found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener in her younger years, nurturing vibrant blooms and verdant landscapes with the same care she gave her family. Her love for arts and crafts evolved into a passion for painting and drawing, gifting her family with treasured pieces of her creativity. She cherished her outings with grandchildren Kira and Kyle, creating memories that will be held dear forever.

Her heart was as generous as her spirit was strong. Ursula was known for her willingness to lend a hand and offer support wherever she could, embodying the true essence of kindness and generosity. Her legacy of giving will continue through the lives she touched and the love she shared.

Ursula leaves behind a loving family, including her children, grandchildren Kala (Josh), Jacob, Sarah, Kira, Kyle, Jordan (Nathan), and Blake, and her great-grandchildren Gabriel, Miriam, and Samantha. She is also survived by her sister Ira Leidel, brother-in-law Richard, sister-in-laws Judy, Janelle (James), Joyce (James), Jean (John), Margaret, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate care they provided, ensuring Ursula's final days were filled with dignity and peace. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request donations be made in Ursula's honor to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to her heart.

As we say goodbye to Ursula, we celebrate a life lived with grace, love, and an unwavering spirit of giving. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace, dear Ursula, until we meet again.
