Aimee Michaels, 60, passed away February 3, 2017. Aimee was the beloved wife of Carole Marsh and loving mother to two border terriers, Miss Celie and Riggins. Aimee was born on July 28, 1956 to her very dear parents, Marcia Michaels (Gordon) and the late Robert Michaels. She was granddaughter to the late Dora and the late Eli Gordon. Aimee is also survived by her aunt Sylvia Gordon, her nephews Andrew Gove and William Gove, her sister-in-law Sue Marsh, her brother-in-law Brad Gove, her mother-in-law Anne Marsh and many treasured cousins. Aimee graduated from Roslindale High in 1974. She worked many years as a travel agent for the family business, Longwood Travel. She was a talented artist. While very critical of her own calligraphy, Aimee enthusiastically championed others' artwork. She co-founded Masscribes and directed two International Conferences of Lettering Artists in Boston. Her legacy continues through the scholarship fund, Dancing Letters, which she co-founded. Another of Aimee's passions was music. She was one of the founding mothers of Voices Rising, a Boston women's chorus founded on feminist principles. Aimee and her wife combined their love of music and lettering in the publishing of Nice Rendition: Cheryl Wheeler's Lyrics in Calligraphy. It was a tribute to their favorite singer-songwriter and the music that brought them together over 20 years ago. Aimee cherished her summers at Camp Young Judea as a child. She had as many interests as there are stars in the sky. She was an avid reader, master of word games, a foodie, a poll worker with a passion for politics and social justice. She lived her life fully but is gone too soon for all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at 10:30AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., Brookline, MA 02445. Interment to follow at Shara Tfila Cemetery, Baker St., West Roxbury. Memorial observance will be at the home of Marcia Michaels following interment until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, 7-9 PM.
