Born on August 16, 1949, in New Haven, Connecticut, Alan was the beloved son of the late Sadie (Alderman) and Frank Chartoff. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Chmara Chartoff; his son, Seth Chartoff, and his wife, Allie; his son, Adam Chartoff, and his husband, Eddie Paris; and his cherished grandchildren, Juliette and Evan, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Chartoff) and her husband Marc Ross and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Above all else, Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He grew up in New Haven and later attended the University of Hartford before beginning a long and successful career in sales, where he sold toys, household goods and hardware, building countless lasting relationships.
Alan had a deep love for boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and could often be found browsing Facebook Marketplace or stopping at yard sales in search of his next great find. He had a sarcastic sense of humor and a sharp mind, and he especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge and offering advice to those around him. A loyal and steadfast friend, Alan cared deeply for the people in his life and was always willing to lend his support, perspective, and wisdom.
More than anything, Alan will be remembered as a dedicated family man whose greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved. His loyalty, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
