

Alexander Gliksberg, of Newton, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Sofia (Heifetz) Gliksberg. Devoted father of Inna Gliksberg of Newton. Cherished grandfather of Daniel Gliksberg of Newton. Dear son of the late David Krasner and Yeneta Gliksberg.
He grew up in Odessa in the Soviet Union, graduated from Odessa Institute of Technology with a master degree in mechanical engineering and Moscow Polytechnical Institute with a master degree in electrical engineering. His work in process automation became his true passion. Before the age of forty-two, when the family left for the United States, he had published twenty-two articles and received nine patents.
After the family moved to the United States in 1978, Alexander was Director of Engineering for several computer hardware and medical instruments companies over the years until his retirement in 2001.
Alexander cherished his time spent with family and friends and he loved to travel all over the world with his wife Sofia.
His funeral service will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at Puritan-Mt. Sinai Cemetery, West Roxbury.
