Arnold Green of Canton, formerly of Mashpee, Boynton Beach and Brookline, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023. Arnold was born in Chelsea, MA in 1932 to Annie & Hyman Green. Arnold was the devoted and loving husband of 68 years to Edith (Parker) Green. The beloved father of Nancy Green of Hoboken, NJ and Robert Green & his wife Mary Starr Green of Milford, MA. Adored grandfather of Aaron and Hannah. Dear youngest brother of the late Malcolm Green & his wife Susan, and the late Sidney Green & his wife Diane. Brother in-law of the late Selma Turbiner.
Arnold received his bachelor's degree from Boston University in 1953. After his Army service in Korea, he a received master's degree in business from Columbia University in 1956. Arnold took over the family business, Green Bros. Oil Company, founded circa 1915 in Chelsea. He grew Green Bros. into a thriving business that then served the greater Boston area for over 25 years. After selling Green Bros. in 1984, with his vast knowledge of all things "house," Arnold become a home-inspector. He taught an accredited course in heating systems at Northeastern University, and was voted best teacher. Arnold loved restoring antique English sports cars, and being the first-hand art-assistant to his talented wife Edie. There was never a project too daunting. For those of us who were heating, plumbing, roofing, woodworking, electrically, electronically and automotively challenged, Arnold was there by our side with all the requisite tools. His son Robert follows in his father's footsteps. With his delightful quick wit, ever-present smile, and his kindness in lending and ear, Arnold made lifelong friends easily. He is the best person we have known, and we will miss him more than we can express.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 10:00 am in the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon with burial to follow. Shiva will be on Friday, December 29 in the Cove Community Room at Orchard Cove, 1 Del Pond Drive, Canton from 2-4pm.
