

Arthur Werbner passed away peacefully on January 30, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife Anita M. Feltquate Werbner, his daughters Linda E. Werbner, Diane M. Werbner and son Stuart A. Werbner, brother Dr. Richard P. Werbner and sister in law Dr. Pnina Werbner, sister Natalie R. Werbner. He was preceded in death by his father Julius Werbner, brother Gabriel Werbner, mother Sophie Kraft Werbner, mother in law Eva B. Feltquate and father in law Philip C. Feltquate. Arthur was born January 28, 1934 in Boston, Mass. He received a B.A. in Math with minors in Physics and Chemstry from Clark University and an M.S. from Georgia Tech in industrial Engineering and an MSEE from Northeastern University. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was an applied mathematician and analytical engineer who worked in private industry at AVCO Systems Division, the government and the academic sections. He taught college and graduate courses in math, electrical engineering, computer science, pharmaceutical science and physics. He was a man for all seasons who loved academics. He won 11 chess championships. Upon retiring he moved to Austin where he attended many physics and astronomy courses at U.T. given by Nobel Laureate Professor Steven Weinberg. He will be buried at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. The memorial will be held on February 5, 2017. For the past three and a half years Arthur's home was Riverside Rehab and Health Care Center in Austin. I wish to thank the wonderful staff for the excellent care they gave Arthur. With tears in their eyes they said he will be surely missed.
