

Avrom Mordukhovich Babitskiy, 85, of Malden, suddenly passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020. Born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia, he was a son of the late Mordukh Babitskiy and Basya Finkelshtein. He was the beloved husband of Svetlana (Epstein) Babitskaya, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
He was an outstanding engineer and talented inventor; great, loving and beloved father, devoted cousin, faithful and kind friend. Brave and courageous, selfless and very modest, he successfully withstood life challenges and provided great support to his family and friends. His exemplary moral values and highest principles became the standard of life for the whole family. All people who knew him underlined his greatest humanism. Talented photographer and videographer, he portrayed the cultural life of the Russian-speaking community of Boston for nearly 15 years.
In addition to his wife, Svetlana, those left to cherish Avrom’s memory are his devoted children: daughter Inna Babitskaya of Malden and son Leonid Babitskiy and his wife Yelena Babitskaya, and grandchildren Daniel Babitskiy and Emilia Babitskaya of Newton; his brother Arkady Babitsky of New York City; his sisters Galina Kheyfets of Spring Valley, NY and Nadya Finkelstein of Israel; his niece Sofia Kevesh and her husband Igor Kevesh of Israel, and their children Ruti and Lior; his nephew Vladimir Katznelzon and his wife Rita of San Jose, CA, and their children Michael and Avital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mordukh Babitskiy and Basya Finkelshtein.
A funeral service for Avrom will take place on Monday, January 27, at 12:30 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., Brookline, MA, with interment immediately following at Puritan-Mt. Sinai Cemetery, 776 Beacon St., W Roxbury, MA.
Shiva will be observed on Tuesday, January 28, to Thursday, January 30, from 6 pm to 9 pm at the home of Leonid Babitskiy.
