The Schanbergs were close neighbors in my childhood.  Bailey Ruth and Sydney and I played hide and seek together with other neighbors. Sydney was a couple of years older than I, and we were good friends. The Schanbergs always made me welcome in their home. We were neighbors in a very culturally/ethnically mixed neighborhood: Jewish, Catholic, Scottish/Protestant. But we got along! And did it very well. They were good days, and I remember them well, and miss them. I visited Sydney at his office at the NYT, and he invited us to the opening of The Killing Fields. We had lunch with him and his 2 daughters. Many beautiful memories.

David, We'd like to believe our parents will be with us forever...and in our hearts and memories they are.  I am sorry for the loss of your beloved Mom - she sounds like such a beautiful person and incredible mother.  My deepest sympathy...

Ah.  David, it was good to see you, to hear stories about your amazing mom, and to share some of our family's memories.  Your mom was a leader and a heroine and an inspiration to my dad and our family.  Michael, Steph and the Delman crew

Bailey was a very special person.She gave more to the world than most people. My heart is sad thinking of her passing but thankful that I was gifted with the opportunity to know and love her.
