Barbara C. (Press) Lamkin, 79, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Beverly, MA, entered into rest on Thursday, November 28, 2019. She was the beloved wife of A. David Lamkin, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2017. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Samuel S. and Emily (Mittel) Press.

Those left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her beloved daughters: Lori McCulloch and her husband Ross of Beverly, and Lynne Legault and her husband Leo of Merrimac; her devoted stepchildren: Randy Kuhl and her husband Bill, and Charles Lamkin; her loving sister, Joan (Press) Fine; and her cherished grandchildren: Derek McCulloch, Bryan McCulloch, Chad Legault, Cameron Legault, Vidura Lamkin and Vedovati Lamkin.

Barbara attended Newton High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Bates College. While raising her two children, she worked as a pre-school teacher and later director at South Church Day School in Peabody. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, they opened Gateway to Learning Children’s Center in Woburn. The business thrived and welcomed young children from all over the world for more than 25 years. Barbara retired to Boynton Beach, Florida, where she maintained a very active social life and was president of the Lakeridge Falls Women’s Club for many years. In her retirement she was fortunate to be able to travel extensively and check many items off her bucket list. Barbara’s children and grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. She will be deeply missed.

A funeral service for Barbara will take place at 11:30am, Thursday, December 5, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., Brookline, with interment immediately following at Stepiner Cemetery, 776 Baker St., West Roxbury.
