Betty Bergman Levin of Newton, 77, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2018 at her home after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Burlington, VT to George and Molly Perelman Bergman, she is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Amos Levin, and their son, Ron Levin, and his wife Toma Halkina, of Somerville. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Samuel Bergman, and his wife Irene, of Hancock, ME. In addition, she had many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was raised in Burlington, VT and was a proud member of the Burlington Jewish community. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in elementary education. Betty spent her career in television production and public relations. She worked at Boston’s old WHDH and subsequently moved to WCVB Channel 5, where she eventually became a writer and producer on the “Good Morning Show” with Janet Langhart and John Willis. In later years, Betty transitioned to the field of public relations and worked as PR Director for Crimson Travel Services. Following this, she spent the rest of her career running her own home-based business, Re: Sources, which operated for more than 30 years and provided publicity services to scores of small businesses from across New England. Betty authored or co-authored four books, including “The Apple Orchard Cookbook” and “Victorian Secrets.” She is most remembered by her loved ones for her strong sense of family and community and for her devotion to those around her. Betty was an eternal optimist who always saw the silver lining in things and never failed to put her friends and family first.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Zviller Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, on Tuesday, December 18, at 1:00pm.
