Green, Charlotte Klayman 10/25/1914 - 5/16/2015. Beloved wife for almost 70 years to well-known pianist William Green of the famed radio team Ken and Bill (who predeceased her in 2005). Loving Sister and best friend to Sadie Green with whom she played bridge, shopped, and laughed non-stopped until Sadie's death in 1994. Mother to Carol Winer (Julie Z"L), Judy Kessler and Rabbi Lynn Brody Slome (Ansel), Grandmother to Michael Winer (Iryna), Marcia Winer Arena (Sal), Jonathan Brody (Z"L) and Carin Brody Davidson. Great-grandmother to Jessica Winer Franks (Chris), Lindsey Winer, Logan Arena, Brendan Arena, Joshua Davidson, Kayla Davidson, and Blake Davidson. She also leaves behind her loving brother- and sister-in-law, Arthur and Rosanne Green and her niece, Emilie Green and nephew, Mitchell Green. Charlotte shared Bill's love of music, and over the years sang in numerous choral groups, as well as the Broadway Singers who presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. In 1930 at the age of 16, Charlotte won first place in the Major Bose talent contest whose prize was a one week singing appearance at the Metropolitan Theater, later renamed the Wang Theater. In 2000 at the Wang's 75th anniversary gala, Charlotte was asked to sing in a celebration that included Yo-Yo Ma and the Boston Ballet. Charlotte resided in Newton and Hull until recently when she moved to Hebrew Senior Life in Roslindale. When she wasn't singing, she was laughing. She leaves behind a legacy of pure sweetness that impressed all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at the Beth EL Cemetery off Baker St. in West Roxbury on Monday, May 18th at 2 PM. Shiva will be held at the home of Judy Kessler on Monday and Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to Hebrew SeniorLife, 1200 Centre St, Roslindale, MA, 02131.
