

Cynthia Phyllis (Kirstein) Grossman, age 80, of Lexington, MA passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Robert H. Grossman for 58 years; the loving mother of Stacy Garnick and her husband Darren, of Amherst, NH; Robin Grossman, of New York City; and Kari Grossman, of Watertown, MA. She was also the proud grandmother (”Nanny”) of Ari and Dahlia.
A 1959 graduate of Peabody High School, Cynthia attended Russell Sage College, earning her bachelor of science degree in laboratory technology. She later co-managed the lab at Saugus General Hospital, where two of her three daughters were born.
Cynthia was the bedrock of her extended family holiday celebrations, exciting guests with amazing meals and a plethora of gourmet desserts on Thanksgiving and Passover.
She thoroughly enjoyed her many adventures with husband Bob, whether it be their regular Saturday date nights, their annual trip to St. Maarten, or cruises to exotic places.
A longtime member of Temple Isaiah in Lexington, Cynthia was active in the Sisterhood and volunteered for many years as an usher on the High Holidays.
Cynthia was the dear sister of the late Merilyn Edelman and her husband Mark, of New York; and sister of the late Sharon Rex, of Texas. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry and Myrna Grossman of Marblehead; and Jay and Lila Grossman of Florida. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, 99 Canterbury Drive, Peabody, MA on Thursday, December 29 at 11:00am. Following burial, shiva will be observed at the Grossman home on Thursday, 1:30-4:00 pm and 6:30-8:30 with a minyan at 7:00pm and Friday, December 30, 1:00-4:00 pm.
