David M. Florence of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Chelsea, MA. Entered into rest on June 3, 2021 at the age of 87.
David was born in Chelsea, MA to Myer Israel and Fannie (Raisman) Florence.
He is survived by his wife Marilee (Maloney), son Mark S. Florence and his wife Susan, daughter Cheryl Baron and her husband Loren, grandchildren Mollie and Myles Baron, and his sister Rosalie Cohen. He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye (Horne), his parents, and siblings: Sylvia Sazinsky, Gertrude Bial, Bernard Florence, Dr. Lewis Florence, Dr. Hyman Florence, and Leonard Florence.
A graduate of Chelsea High School and Texas A&M, he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering, followed by an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. David spent much of his career at Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster PA. He began his career as a general chemist developing technologies that make consumer and commercial products safe from fire hazards. He holds several patents for his inventions. In recognition of his many contributions, he was appointed to the position of Corporate Vice President of New Ventures and Procurement. In later years, he operated his own business, Globalcare Medical, a medical device distributorship.
David was a proud veteran and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant in the United States Army Chemical Corps.
Above all else, David loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle. David will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon MA., at 10:45 am Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Please gather behind the Administration building prior to 10:45 and we will then make our way in procession to graveside.
