

David was born in Charlestown, MA February 2, 1927, to Eli and Ethel Shnaper.
He was a lifelong Bostonian graduating from Boston English High School as well as Northeastern University. David joined the Army in 1945 and served in occupied Japan. He had many pictures of his time in Japan that he loved to share with family and friends.
After returning home David married Sylvia Punsky of Portland Maine. They remained happily married until Sylvia’s passing in December of 1991. David and Sylvia had three children Gary, Steven, and Jill. Steven passed away from pancreatic cancer in April 2010.
David worked at the family owned “mom and pop” store in Charlestown known to residents as Snappers. Snappers eventually closed and David worked for the U.S. postal service until he retired.
David was an avid Boston Bruins fan. He held season tickets for many years. David shared his love of hockey with his children. David was in attendance for the historic Bruins Stanley cup win on May 10, 1970. He witnessed the famous Bobby Orr overtime goal.
David will be remembered as a kind, easy going man. He loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren Danielle Shnaper and Bradly Thompson.
