

David Sherman Young passed on Monday November 24, 2014 at the age of 90, in Washington DC after a long fight with cancer. The former Waban village resident from 1960 to 1992, and of Longboat Key Florida from 1992-2013. David Young was a World War II Navy Veteran, and was known by many as the “Nicest Guy in the World!”. A beloved husband for 47 years to the late Barbara Brown Young (1926-1997) and father to Mark D. & his wife Rachel Carren of Chevy Chase, MD, and James A. & his fiancée Donna Star of Needham. He leaves three grandchildren Emily Young & her husband Daniel Simkin, Ben Young & his wife Jessica Cole, and Gabe Young, and two great grandchildren Samantha and Jacob. A longtime Executive Sales Manager for M.Brown Office Furniture in Boston, Young was the patriarch of three generations of graduates from his Alma Mater Tufts University E’45; Mark A’74, Rachel A’76; James A. A’79’; Emily A’03 and Jessica‘A04. An avid golfer, sports enthusiast, Boston Braves and Red Sox fan, he loved all the Boston Sports teams equally. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Henry and Lee Young, and graduated Lynn English High School. He is survived by his brother Stanley Young of North Andover and sister Marilyn Berger of Framingham.
Graveside services on Friday, November 28 at 12:00noon at the Mishkan Tefila Memorial Park, 2690 Centre Street, West Roxbury. Following the service, memorial observance will be at the home of Donna Star from 1:30-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in David’s name may be made to Everybody Wins!
