
Deborah (Newman) Kassman of Lexington, on Monday, August 3, 2015. Devoted mother of Judith Wexler & her husband Mathias of Canada. Loving grandmother of Benjamin & Melissa Wexler and Simon Wexler. Fond aunt of Dr. Larry Kassman. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she graduated Wellesley College, Phi Beta Kappa. She was the college fiction editor for Mademoiselle Magazine and was Director of Stewardship at Brandeis University for many years and at Harvard University after that. At Brandeis she was a speech writer for the late President Morris B. Abram. Married to the late Sy Kassman in l948, their marriage ended in divorce in l986. Sy was the founder of the Harvard Wellesley Bus Service and former secretary of Polaroid Corporation.
Graveside services at Beth Israel Memorial Park, 190 South St., Waltham on Tuesday (today), August 4 at 2:00pm. Shiva will be in Ottawa, Canada.
Donations in her memory may be made to Brookhaven Employee Scholarship Fund, 1010 Waltham St., Lexington, MA 02421 or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at Brookhaven on a day to be announced.
