I only recently learned of Dr. Beer’s passing. My deepest condolences to all the Beer family.  I knew him as my allergist and also worked in the same hospital as him. He was a dear, astute, learned man with much empathy for others.  In short, a most superb man and doctor.  He also saved the life of a dear friend who was in ICU at death’s door.  Additionally, he recommended me to a very most wonderful primary care doctor who is the best of the best.  I shall never find another like her.  And we all grieve over your loss of Dino, a magnificent man and doctor.

I used to have him as my Allergist at Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was always so kind and helpful. He was also very friendly and a great person to talk to. I didn't know that he had passed away until now. I haven't seen him in years and I'm so so sorry for your loss. After all these years I remember him very fondly. He really was the best and I'll never forget him.

Having only just seen this message of profound loss in Patient Gateway this morning, I'm devastated, as surely Dr. Beer's closest still are.  Dr. Beer took care of me since the very early 90's, when I was in bad shape physically, for unmanaged allergies.  Things turned around quickly after I was under his care, and a once a year maintenance visit is something I know we both looked forward to.  Every year he would remind me that I should not have a (dog) or a (cat) and every year I'd apologize but they weren't going anywhere, and he knew it.  ;)   He took interest in my personal life, and as others have said, our visits included talk of many things, including sports, and other intellectual interests.

My mom ended up in the ICU unexpectedly in 2007, and he wasn't on duty that Friday, but Saturday and thereafter, I knew she was getting the best mind and the most compassionate care she could have from that time until she passed away.

I don't know if I will ever have the trust in another person's knowledge and experience that I had in Dr. Beer, as a physician, or as a person.  The world is indeed a darker place for this loss.  May he rest in peace, and may his family & friends be comforted by the wonderful memories they shared.

You must hear this from so many.  He was a  doctor like no other. He cared for my parents for decades.  Near the end of their lives when they needed me as their escort to Dr. Beer apptmts, he took care of me too.  When my dad died, he stood with us  in ICU and spoke of what a good man my dad was.  “Call me Dino” was just always there lending his strength, knowledge and compassion and making each of us feel important. Thank you for sharing him with all of us for whom he cared. Sending my deepest sympathy and love♥️

I was very surprised and saddened to read of Dino's passing.  He became my doctor some 24 years ago after my family relocated to Newton.  Fortunately for me, our doctor/patient relationship focused on monitoring a condition that has not resurfaced to this day.  Dino kept records of my year to year health changes, life changes, and work history.  On several occasions, my wife would come to my appointment, and he always seemed pleased with this.  As I grew up in New York, we shared a common history of N.Y. sports.  He loved the Yankees of the 70s.  We talked as much about baseball, upper Manhattan, and the Bronx (where my 27 year old son now resides) as we did about me as a patient.  I think he enjoyed that.  Dino was a joyful compassionate man that brightened the lives that he touched.  He loved his work and his family.  Although we would see each other but once a year, I will miss him as a doctor and a friend.

As a patient since 2014, I was beyond devastated to hear of Dr. Beer's passing.  I never feared my appointments with him - and in fact, also looked forward to them!  Dr. Beer was re-assuring, compassionate, thorough, respectful, and simply great to speak with.  At every visit we found something to laugh about - and usually took a few minutes to discuss sports.  My last visit with him was in July of this year, and we conversed while he took down my information.  He was with me throughout my illness journey and if it hadn't been for his attention, quick thinking, and kindness, my story could have been a lot different.  I always knew that my calls would be returned and my questions answered.  He will be so badly missed.

My heart sank when I heard this news from patient gateway. It's no exaggeration to say Dr. Beer saved my life 25 years ago. He treated my asthma not only with medicine but with understanding and caring. He was seriously the only doctor I looked forward to seeing. We had fantastic conversations every year at my annual checkup, and I would jealously admire the magnets and stickers on his filing cabinet of all the national parks he went to with his family. In fact, it was those stickers and Dr. Beer's stories, that got me to finally pull the trigger on a dream of going to Yellowstone and I did in 2015 with my family.  It was the trip of a lifetime. In my annual checkups, we talked Yankees/Red Sox and any number of subjects. It felt more like a therapy session than an asthma check, honestly. He put me at ease and gave me hope for my disease.  I owe my health to him. I will always consider him a friend. I lost my own father in 2017, and to his family, I know this hurts, but I've found comfort in memories with my father, and with some time having gone by. My deepest condolences. John

I had only been a Dr. Beer patient for about 5 years, but I am devastated to hear of his passing, and can only imagine the loss felt by his family and loved ones.  It was not the fact that we lost an amazing doctor that has me so upset, but rather, it is the fact that the world lost an irreplaceable person who had the perfect balance of empathy and humor.  I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to my appointments with Dr. Beer as I knew we would share many laughs.   I knew I would be happier leaving, as a result of my interchange with Dr. Beer, than I was going in to my appointment.  How often can one say that about anything, never mind a medical appointment?  We lost a truly great man.  Again, I am devastated, but I am thankful that I had the limited time I did with him, and have Dr. Beer, his family, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. 

To the family of Dr. Beer,
I received this sad news through a message on patient gateway and the impact I felt was immediate.  I have been his patient for more than 25 years. He knew me single, engaged, pregnant, and as a wife and mother in her 50's sending my kids off to college for the first time. Those same kids attended appointments with me and had drawings on his office walls for more than 10 years after. Dr. Beer's understanding, empathy, knowledge, kindness, and medical skill will go unmatched in my eyes. He was one of a kind and I'm so blessed and grateful that he was my doctor. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He will never be forgotten.

For nearly 30 years Dr. Beer has been my trusted friend and physician. .  My faith in him  never  waive red..

His empathy and his honest caring for each of his patients knew no bounds.

His love,  devotion, and  pride in his  family was front and center.

Dr Beer (Dino) has been my doctor for at least 20 years and has kept me putting one foot after the other.  Not only did I love him as a devoted physician but a friend.  I am totally devastated hearing of the loss.  Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.
