
Dolly Beatrice Hughes on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.Dolly was born in San Rafael, California, the daughter of Charles Grandjean and Nettie Louise Anderson, and died in Boston, Massachusetts, having moved there with her family in 2001. A graduate of the University of California, she stayed for a Master's degree in Decorative Arts and was a talented designer, needlewoman, and knitter. But her true calling was that of making others happy, and in her century of life, she never failed to reach out to others. No one who met her during her century of life could ever forget her sweet and generous personality. Dolly and her husband of 71 years, Jack Robert Hughes, were enthusiastic hikers during their retirement years in Oakland, California, and made many friends who shared their love of the outdoors. After moving to Boston, Jack and Dolly kept very active and were ardent walkers well into their nineties. She will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom High, and by many other relatives and friends. Services will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.
