

FRASER, Dorothea (Smith), of Norwood, entered into rest September 1, 2016 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Sidney Fraser. Loving daughter of the late Abraham and Sarah (Shapiro) Smith. Devoted mother of Audrey Fraser and her partner Richard Stoloff of Gloucester, and Richard Fraser and his wife Brenda of Westwood. Cherished grandmother of Emily Viator and her husband Justin, and Laura and Liana Fraser. Adored great-grandmother of Julia and Evan Viator. Loving sister of the late Robert (late Irene) Smith, the late Helen (late David) Slover, and the late Anita Chartkoff. She is survived by her dear sister Ruth Smith and her dear brothers-in-law Alan Chartkoff and Melvin Fraser.
Dorothea graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls in 1942, and entered the Nurse Cadet Corps Program at Beth Israel Hospital during World War II. She graduated from nursing school in 1946 and was a registered nurse throughout her life. Dorothea married her childhood sweetheart Sidney Fraser on September 15, 1946 (they met as teenagers), and together they owned the family business Ingalls Pharmacy in Mattapan. She also resided in Norwood for twenty years, and was a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 548. Dorothea was an excellent listener, and her life was full of concern and caring for her friends and extended family. Her friends and memories were a great comfort to her in the past year.
Funeral service at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Kehillath Jacob Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
