

Dorothy S. Seltzer, age 98, of Lexington, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in the comfort of her home that she had lived in for over 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband Norman L. Seltzer and her older son Roger. She was predeceased by her sister Gertrude Rosen.
Born in Boston, MA, Dorothy was the daughter of Emanuel and Bessie (Klein) Steer. She received a master’s degree in education from Lesley College and graduated from Syracuse University. She was a long-time special education teacher at the Lynch Elementary School in Winchester, MA.
Dorothy is survived by her son Mark Seltzer and his wife June Seraydar of Needham, MA., her granddaughter Lara Seltzer of Boston and her husband Matt Bejian, her granddaughter Bryn Seltzer of New York City and her partner Jackson Manz-Siek, and by her niece Nan Statton and her husband Ron Statton. She was the great aunt of Evan Statton, Matthew Statton, and Kate Statton Harmon.
After retirement from the Lynch School, she worked as a special education consultant and advocate for students and their families. She traveled extensively throughout Europe with her sister and her long-time close friend and college roommate from Syracuse University.
She maintained close relationships with her classmates from Syracuse and her colleagues from Lynch School and in the special education field. She attended lectures and alumni events at M.I.T. where her late husband Norman had graduated. She had a real bond with Syracuse and attended alumni events at the University and conducted alumni interviews of applicants to the University.
She enjoyed playing bridge, attending concerts of the Boston Symphony, and visiting exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. During her many winters in Sarasota, Florida with her sister, she reveled in Sarasota arts and culture including taking painting classes. And she of course loved the City of Boston, in particular Bailey’s for ice cream, Filene’s Basement for clothing shopping, and lunch at the Parker House.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 11:15 AM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon, MA.
