As the editor of one of the radiology journals to which Doug regularly contributed his wonderful writings, I am deeply saddened at his untimely passing, and will miss my encounters with him. Our field has lost a superb radiologist and insightful human being.

Doug was a close friend, biochemistry lab partner, 87 classmate, and Wheeler hallmate with me at Dartmouth.  We shared very similar ambitions and interests in life, including biochem, medicine, and skiing.  He was a great person and always full of energy and life.  He will be sorely missed by me and so many others I am sure.  God bless him and his family.

I'll miss talking to my treasured friend a couple times a month.

My heart goes out to you during these excruciating days. I have been reading the obituaries from Utah. Doug sounds like an amazing person and I know he was a beloved son. Your book group pals hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

We got to know Doug at Bonwood Bowl.  He was our partner for years and we grew to love his gruff but loveable personality.  We had great times with Doug bowling and golfing!  He was truly one of a kind.  He will be greatly missed.

We didn't know Doug but know Joyce and Jay well.  Our kindest regards to your family... we are sorry for your loss.

Many times I have wished Doug was still here at work so I could ask him what he thought about something or get the background on a rule or a law. He always had a good answer to any question. He taught me the importance of being succinct. He didn't think a rule should be more than 1 page long. I have always wished I could have seen and talked with him at least one more time. What a hole he left when he left - both times.

Doug was a gruff, but very grand individual.  When I started at the Insurance Department he gave me one piece of advice.  He said, "Make a difference!"  And I hope I will someday! I am sorry to hear of his passing and will always appreciate his honesty.  Suzette Green-Wright (Erda, UT)

I loved Doug's wry sense of humor which for some reason I totally always got.  Doug was a good man and considerate of his coworkers.  I enjoyed working with him.

I'll always remember Doug as a good friend and a great coworker.  He was very knowledgeable regarding insurance and the various renditions of the Utah Insurance Code.  He was always his own man, and didn't always try to yield to peer pressure and the need to fit in.  Once you got to know Doug, it was pretty hard not to like him.  I'm glad he was at the Department for most of the time I was there.
