

Elaine Brown, age 70, of Gloucester MA, formerly of Newton, MA, died peacefully in her home on March 28, 2014. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brown of Gloucester, by her son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Norine Brown, and her beloved grandsons, Evan and Alex Brown of Portland CT, and by her brother, Stephen Brecher, her sister-in-law, Dorsey Yearley of Needham and her nephews, Robert and Andrew Brecher, of Newton. Elaine retired from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2012 where she had a long career as a clinical chemist, managing a surgical research laboratory as well as working in the clinical laboratory. She moved to Gloucester 12 years ago, where she was happiest walking on the beach, attending cultural activities and community festivals, and enjoying her wonderful friends. She was enriched by the companionship that she gave and received through the congregation of Temple Ahavat Achim and by her volunteer activities in the community. She will be remembered with love by her friends and family for her continuous acts of kindness and generosity and for her enduring positive outlook on life.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 1st at 1:30 PM at Temple Ahavat Achim, 86 Middle Street, Gloucester, preceded by the burial service at 11:00 AM at the Crawford St. Memorial Park, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA. Memorial observance will be held at her late residence following the memorial service and on Wednesday from 11 AM-2 PM and 3-6 PM. Donations can be made in her honor to Temple Ahavat Achim.
