Elaine Myrna Smith, 78, from Boca Raton, FL and Boston, MA, made a full sacred circle in peacefully letting go with elegance and grace while surrounded by her family on her birthday at her Boca Raton home on the beach.
Elaine was born to Joseph and Ruth Winiker on February 27, 1945, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She was raised in Millis, MA, and she completed her higher education at Lesley college with a BA in education. After college, Elaine met the love of her life, Larry Smith, whom she married on April 18, 1970 in Brookline, MA. Together, they raised three adoring daughters in Florida while she worked as the bookkeeper for their family business. Throughout her life, Elaine was a caring and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, and auntie who would always make time to truly understand their lives and gently nudge them towards happiness and fulfillment.
Throughout her life, philanthropy and charity were paramount to Elaine. She generously supported the Jewish Federation Family Services and countless other charities for years. Elaine also shared her time to drive elderly community members to their engagements while taking in her passengers’ tales of their storied lives.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Smith of 52 years; three loving daughters, Karen Smith, Rebecca Jean Smith and Stephanie Boggs; her son-in-law Jason Boggs; seven beautiful grandchildren, Morgan, Marina, Kayla, Harley, Skylar, Carter, and Bode; and her sisters, Micki, Rita, Cynthia, and Gigi.
Family and friends are invited to Stanetsky Memorial Chapel (1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA) on Monday, March 6 at 10:30 am to share their memories and love with each other. Elaine’s burial service will immediately follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery (74 Auburn Road, Millis, MA). Shiva will follow, please contact the family for information. A celebration of life will also be held in Florida in April with information to follow.
Elaine’s family is so deeply grateful to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and paramedics at Delray Medical Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Vitas Hospice; and especially her nephew Dr. Adam Kanter who guided the family in keeping their beloved Elaine in the best care and comfort as she prepared for her journey.
