Eliot Beren 92, formerly of Worcester, Massachusetts, peacefully reunited with his loving wife, Rose, on March 11, 2018. Since Rose’s passing, in January 2015, Eliot resided in Windsor, CT with his daughter, Ann.
A gentleman’s gentleman, Eliot was born in Boston, MA in 1925. The youngest son of the late Louis and Mary Berinsky, he was predeceased by his brothers, Nate, Jack, Sam, and Edward. Raised in Roxbury, Eliot graduated from the Roxbury Memorial High School in 1943.
Eliot was the devoted father of Ann (Caplin) Koenig and her late husband Harvey, of Windsor, CT and Sandi Beren Mahoney and her husband Tom “Moe”, of Framingham, MA. Eliot was the proud “Zadie” to his grandchildren, Jennifer (and Robert) Roulier, Joshua (and Kate) Caplin, Kara (and Jeffrey) Robinson, and Eric (and Ilyse) Mahoney. Eliot enjoyed spending special times with his ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Ryan, Rachel, Lily, Hannah, Ari, Corinne, Theo and Alex. He played games with them and always told them how proud he was of their accomplishments.
Throughout his teens, Eliot was an accomplished basketball player. Instead of becoming a semi-professional ball player, he chose to marry the love of his life. Eliot became a respected salesman, working until the age of 82. During his career, he won many sales awards for outstanding accomplishments.
While living in Worcester, Eliot always enjoyed a Coney Island hot dog, a trip to Spag’s, Green Hill Park, and watching the boats at Lake Quinsigamond. A soft spoken “people person,” Eliot enjoyed initiating conversations with strangers. Before long, they would be chatting and laughing as if they were long-time friends.
Family was the center of the world that Eliot and Rose, his beloved wife of 67 years created. They took yearly vacations to Maine, a tradition now carried on by Ann, Sandi, and their families.
Eliot will be most remembered for his loving hugs.
This special caring son, brother, husband, dad, grand/great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, will sadly be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15, 10:30 AM at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., Brookline, MA , with interment at Zviller Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury. Memorial observance will follow at the home of Sandi and Moe in Framingham.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Eliot to the charity of one’s choice.
