Ellis R Freedman

Ellis Reinherz Freedman, of Weston, MA formerly of Newton, MA, on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the age of 79, due to complications from diabetes. He leaves behind his beloved family: his son, Joshua Freedman of Cambridge, MA and his girlfriend, Robin Elices; his daughter, Deborah Bitner of Texas, her husband Richard, and their children, Andrew and Matthew, whom he loved and was blessed to watch as they grew into young adults. He also leaves behind his former wife, Alice Freedman of Chestnut Hill. Born to Sidney and Mary, Ellis grew up in Malden, MA. A graduate of Malden High School (’56), Brandeis University (’60), and Boston University Law School (’63), Ellis was a member of the Massachusetts Bar (’64). Following in his father’s footsteps, Ellis ran the family business, the Hub Thread Company. An avid Red Sox fan, he enjoyed attending many games with his son. Ellis was a member of Temple Shalom in Newton and had previously served on the Board of Trustees. Graveside Services will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St, Sharon, MA on Monday, September 4 at 2:45PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
