She was the daughter of the late Irving and Lillian (Epstein) Yanow; sister of Judith L. Small and the late George Small, aunt to Andrea Titelbaum and her husband Alan, David Small and his wife Elyse Winick. She also leaves behind her “grands”, Jason Titelbaum and his wife Carolyn and their children Collin and Madeleine, Ross Titelbaum and his wife Gina, Avi Small and his husband Ed Wasserman, Nomi Small and Shira Small.
Esther attended Boston Girls Latin, Hebrew Teacher’s College and Boston University where she received her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She was a technical writer.
Upon her retirement, she volunteered at Beth Israel Hospital. She also taught English as a second language at Mass General Hospital. Esther also enjoyed working at the polls for the Town of Brookline.
A funeral service for Esther will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA. Interment will follow at Butrimantzy cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA.
Shiva will follow interment at the David’s residence till 9:00 PM.
Then at her late home 202 Brooksby Village Drive, Unit OG-503, Peabody, Wednesday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM, Thursday from 6:30 PM -9:00 PM , Friday from 2:00 PM -4:00 PM, and Sunday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
