

Evelyn Ina Dion, born in Lowell, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Roslindale, MA. She was 90 years old, born on March 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Manuel & Bertha Weinberg. She was the former wife of the late Gerald Jason Willinger, with whom she had four children. They shared 35 years of marriage and raised their family in Malden, MA. She was later married to the late Norman Sewell Dion of Bangor, ME.
Evelyn had a rich and fulfilling life. She loved selling fine jewelry and was an award winning top salesperson. She traveled as often as she could, visiting an impressive five continents and taking a year long road trip across the USA. At age of 65 she took up tennis and played until she was 80. Ballroom dance was a passion, she participated in numerous ballroom dance showcases. She volunteered time in her community working at events including: The Jerry Lewis NPR MDS drive, Boca Raton’s First Night New Year’s Eve, ushering at live theatre shows, and helping with sales at the Bethesda Hospital Gift Shop in Boynton Beach.
Most recently she lived at Hebrew SeniorLife in Roslindale, MA where she enjoyed many friendships with residents and staff entertaining them with stories about her “wonderful” children. She also practiced Yiddish, which she remembered speaking with her parents as a child.
She is survived by her family: Dan Willinger and his partner Linda Nanfria of CA, Karen and Neal Nelson, of FL, and Ken and Florence Willinger of MA; her treasured grandchildren, Jason Willinger, Ginger Willinger, and Sophia Willinger. Her stepfamily: Peter and Diane Dion, James and Donna Dion, Michael Dion, and Andrew and Nicola Dion; her cherished step-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Sarah, Alexandra, and Jonathan; and her dear step-great-grandson, Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Minda ElaineWillinger, and brother, Marcus Weinberg.
At the request of the family, memorial services for Evelyn will be private.
Ken and Florence Willinger will be sitting Shiva on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 5th and 6th from 6-9pm at their residence.
