Evelyn Rothschild was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 6th, 1934. She and her parents lived in New York for 13 years, where her father was a buyer for the family clothing business. She did all her schooling in New York and graduated from Bentley High School after spending her junior year at Redhill High School in South Africa. Upon graduation, she came back to South Africa and married our father, Raymond Rothschild. They were married for 60 years and had 3 wonderful daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and grandson Bradley Skikne. She is survived by her children Michele and Michael Skikne, Caron Rothschild and Colin Shapiro, Sandie and David Mechanic, and grandchildren Kerri and Shane Skikne and Howard and Natalie Mechanic, her brother and sister-in-law Michael & Glenda Kobrin and Family and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Trevor Goldberg and Family.
She devoted her life to caring for others, always putting family and friends at the center of her heart. As a mother, she provided unwavering love, guidance, and support. As a grandmother, she brought joy, wisdom, and countless cherished memories to the lives of her grandchildren. As a daughter, she honored her family with compassion and devotion. As a friend, she was loyal, generous, and always ready to have some fun. She volunteered for school committees and at the local hospital to hand out magazines and snacks, loved baking and icing spectacular children’s birthday cakes, loved doing floral arrangements, and catered amazing business and social dinners.
Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
