Greetings, Mark and Rebecca, I am saddened to learn about the transition of your beloved wife and mother, my  dear friend Francine. Today, July 29, 2020 commemorates  five years, and one day, since she left for the World Unseen. I did not know,  and when I found out, I had to cope with her death and that of another friend Dr. Josephine   Moikobu.   I trust, however,  you will be strengthened by the warmth, the   love and the sweet memories she has left with you. 

Francine and I met each other on May 19, 1981, a very special day for both of us.  Through her, I succeeded in modifying  my trajectory on Jewish American Relations, after her one year  stint in Canada, and her visit  to Israel.  

I have many fond memories of her in Boston and, later  in Barbados where she visited me in 1988, after I was recruited by the UWI Cave Hill Campus.   The most memorable was a Sunday Bajan lunch at Atlantis Restaurant in Bathsheba, St. Joseph, with the late Dr. Joseph Richards.   The good gentleman was one who laughed sparingly, but after a sparrow had the audacity to challenge Francine for her coconut pie, and lost the contest, the "stiff upper lip doctor,"  began to laugh. Mr. Sparrow never  returned to our table.  I wondered if Fran  knew she had accomplished a major feat.

Another memory, Barbados' former  PM  The Hon. Owen Seymour Arthur died on 7/26/2020. He was my neighbor before he became PM in 1995, and members of  his party, the BLP, often met at his home, the  street was often semi-congested, one of the many reasons that led Francine to conclude Barbadians were too political.  But if he hadn't been political, he would not have become  the longest serving PM in Barbados.   Strangely, the two of them now share the same month of transition. 

I pray you and the family are well, and that you remain safe from Covid -19.  I do look forward to meeting you.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of my friend, college classmate, and, inside and out, beautiful woman.  We attended a fiction writing course together at Brandeis University in the 1970s, and I shall always remember her wit, intelligence, and kindness.

With profound sadness to hear of her passing, with profound gratitude for wonderful memories of her love of the best things in life and people.

I've known Francine since we were just little girls.  She was a wonderful person.  My deepest condolences.

Franny and I were very close friends in our youth in Newton and Nantasket and shared so much joy and the trials and tribulations of youth...I am so saddened to hear of her passing and remember her intelligence, sense of humor and warmth. My deepest condolences.

I am so very sorry to hear about Francine, my deepest condolences to the family.  Francine was a kind and sensitive soul and she will be missed. RIP Francine.

Francine taught me to get over the small stuff, to keep moving forward with as much grace as possible and a sense of optimism despite the odds. She was a personal champion. I will miss her guiding light.

Frannie was a fun person to re-meet a few years ago at our Brandeis Reunion, and I'm glad we got together to share our art and wine worlds, however briefly.

Francine was more than a mother, a friend, and a wife. She was truly was one of the brightest minds that I have ever came across. I we always remember whenever she spoke about Rebecca, how her face lit up with joy.   I hope that in her tragic passing we can recall all the love, knowledge, and kindness she brought into this world, and that she is finally at peace.
