
Gertrude (Adler) Osburne, of Newington, CT, formerly of Bronx, NY passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 after a long life of 92 years. Gerry, as she was affectionately called, was the beloved wife of the late William P. Osburne. She is survived by her brother and sister in-law, George and Miriam Adler, children, and grandchildren. She was the devoted mother of Andrea Osburne and her husband Vanlong Nguyen, and Marcia Osburne and her husband David Rothstein. Her two grandchildren, Rebecca and Julie, adored her, as she often took care of them, and was a major part of their upbringing. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Mark and Laurie Adler, her Grandniece, Serena Adler, and several cousins. Gerry was raised in a Yiddish speaking neighborhood in the Bronx, NY. She worked as a Manager in several department stores, including Klein’s and was a dedicated mother to her children. Education and reading were of prime importance to her, and she was her grandchildren’s first reading teacher. Gerry’s feisty spirit, clever wit and intelligence, and devotion to her family will always be lovingly remembered. Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline on Monday, May 12 at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery, 776 Baker St. W. Roxbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lucy Robbins Welles Library, Newington, CT, 95 Cedar Street, Newington, CT 06111.
