Gladys (Rubin) Jacobson, 93, of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Palm Beach, FL, Needham and Centerville, MA died peacefully in her home on July 24, 2022 after a short illness. Born in Poland, she came to this country at the age of eight. She and her husband Paul helped to establish Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA. She had a successful career as Director of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Fund at Brandeis University, and later at Tufts University as Director of Giving and its schools. In her retirement she became the only female president of Temple Emanu-El in Palm Beach in the synagogue’s 60 year history. She was the wife of the late Paul S. Jacobson, mother of Michael Jacobson-Hardy of Florence, MA, Richard Jacobson of Watertown, MA, and the late Andrew Jacobson of NYC, and mother-in-law of Ruth Jacobson-Hardy, Dorothy Jacobson and Judi Nierman. She was the adored grandmother of Alex and his fiancée Jane Sugarman, Hannah and her fiancé Chris Morano, Leah, Alicia and her wife Jess Burns, Max and his wife Rachel Levy, and Nell and her fiancé Dan November. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Rubin of Delray, FL, and brother, Sidney Rubin of Keego Harbor, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA on Friday, July 29 at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Women’s League of Temple Emanu-El, 190 N.
