Beloved husband of Marjorie (Winer) for 65 years. Loving father of Martha Lindsay of Bryn Mawr, PA & her late husband Bob, Nancy Bloom & Alan Cohen of Rochester, NY and the late Barbara Ranson & her surviving husband Ed Ranson of Sebeka, MN. Adored grandfather of Matthew (Marianne) Ranson, John (Bertha) Ranson, Ben Ranson, Sarah (Scott) Goehringer, Rachel Lindsay, Saul Cohen and Sarita Cohen, and great grandfather of Leo Cook Ranson. Dear brother of the late Florence (Harvey) Olenberg. Graduated with PhD in Economics and JD from Harvard. Former President of Elm Farm Foods and former Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Food Chains. Senior Lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Co-chaired MIT panel that developed the format for the Universal Product Code. Also headed a real estate development firm. Author of numerous books and articles on the food industry, labor relations and productivity. Fellow at Brandeis University, President of Belmont Country Club and active in CJP and MSPCC. Lieutenant Commander (Ret’d) U.S. Navy. Services will be held at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston (parking available on the Riverway) on Thursday, April 10th at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, 350 Grove St., West Roxbury. Memorial observance will be at the home of Michael & Marilyn Winer following the burial until 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, Dana Farber or a charity of your choice.
