Gwendolyn Brott

Gwen Brott, of Brookline, entered into rest Sunday Feb 7,2021 was predeceased by her

Mother, Anna Druss of Boston, and her brother Lloyd Brott of Boynton Beach, Florida.

She leaves her sister Pearl Druss, of Natick, formerly of Brookline.

Gwen was a rebel WITH a cause: Born with cerebral palsy, she felt her job (quietly and in her own way) was to help others with disabilities.

When the Disabilities Act was passed, she spread her wings and flew into a new freedom she had

never experienced. Along with the United Cerebral Palsy Association, and other helpful agencies,

she and her roommate, also handicapped, went before the State Legislature of Massachusetts, to argue for wheelchair curb cuts, especially in Brookline Village where they lived.

With the aid of her long time Case Manager & Coordinator Ramatu Kuyateh, she travelled extensively to Las Vegas, Freeport Bahamas, and Disney World.

In 1987, Gwen and roommate Barbara, flew to Rome (with help from United Cerebral Palsy)

and met Pope John Paul who blessed the handicapped visitors individually.

The agency Work Inc. played a huge role in Gwen’s life for well over 20 years with much support, spearheaded by Cathy Denny, Supervisor who facilitated Gwen’s needs, enabling her to live

successfully within the community. …First Cathy Denny,(then Fay Watson), with Ramatu Kuyateh,

Case Mgr, implementing the plan for the rest of Gwen’s life.

Gwen enjoyed her soap operas, music of the 40’s & 50’s, loved the Red Sox, and was busy with activities from the now closed St Gabriels Adult Daycare in Brighton . For many years was busy with

Hebrew Senior Life’s Program, Great Day for Seniors in Roslindale.

She was a loyal friend to many and well-liked by everyone who knew her. Gwen and her unique sense of humor will be sadly missed. She is the ONLY person that we know of with cerebral palsy who lived to be over 90. She passed of natural causes. Donations in Gwen's name should be addressed to:
