Cantor Harry Gelman

Beloved husband of Phyllis Cohen Gelman and the late Edna (Altman) Gelman. Loving father of Leland Gelman of NY, Jonathan Gelman of NH, Haywood Gelman of NH, Ruby Gelman of NY and Gilana Gelman of NY. Adored grandfather of six. Dear brother of Minnie Schiffres of NY. Graveside services were held at the Kehillath Jacob Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury on Friday April 6, 2012 at 4pm. Cantor Gelman was the longest serving member of the Temple Aliyah staff, having led his first service at Temple Aliyah on Shabbat Hanukkah of 1971. Born and raised in New York City, Cantor Gelman studied Physics and Mathematics at City College of New York where he earned a B.S. degree, and at New York University where he earned his Ph.D Due to the Passover holiday, the family will not be sitting shiva.
