Henry was born to Thelma Landsman Clayman and Jacob “Chick” Clayman in Boston, July 27, 1942. He grew up in Cambridge and moved to Newton in his teen years, graduating from Newton High School in 1960. He continued with his studies at University of Florida and Portia Law School, but eventually felt a pull to join the family business in Cambridge.
From a young age, Hank had the gift of gab. He was an outgoing person who was always happy to speak to anyone about any topic at any time. His love of 4 letter words was topped only by his love of travel, great meals, shared stories, laughter and good times. Wherever he went, he enjoyed meeting people and making friends.
One of his greatest pleasures was spending time up at Lake Winnipesaukee relishing the sunsets and time with loved ones.
When he was not traveling the world, you would find him behind the desk at his business, Advance Tire Company in Cambridge where he worked until he had a stroke in April of this year. Hank enjoyed talking to customers and making personal connections with everyone who walked in the door.
Hank leaves behind his wife Marsha, beloved children: Jill Clayman Kaplan and her husband Mitchell Kaplan, Neil Clayman, and Lisa Clayman; cherished grandchildren: Jaye and Ethan Kaplan; siblings Steven Clayman and Alene Clayman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. An avid collector, Hank also leaves behind 84 designer belts, 72 pocket knives, 37 nail clippers, 18 hair combs, 8 pair of cowboy boots for a horse he never had and a 5 year old never used treadmill.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 1 pm, Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
Shiva will be observed on Thursday, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and on Friday from 1-4 pm at the family residence.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Hank’s memory to the American Heart Association, The American Stroke Association or a charity of your choice.
