Inga Berdichevskaya passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She is survived by her children and grandchildren; son Stas, daughter-in-law Irina, grandchildren Leo, Daniel and Dina, daughter Olga, son-in-law Sean, grandchildren Elizabeth and David Mark. Inga is predeceased by her husband David.
Inga was a bright, energetic, beautiful and fearless woman despite the fact that her childhood and youth happened during the darkest moments of the 20th century. She was born on December 20, 1933 in Moscow, Russia to Golda and Lazar Kiuchevsky. Lazar was a victim of Stalin repressions and was send to GULAG for 20 years. Inga became a daughter of the "Enemy of the People" at only 4 years old with all treatment that came with the label. Golda raised her alone, taking her to bomb shelters during Nazi air raids on Moscow in 1941 and eventually evacuating the city. A great number of Inga's family members perished in ghettos and mass graves during Nazi occupation of the Baltic countries and Belarus.
Inga went on to become a structural engineer. There were many buildings and plants in the ex-USSR that were built with her participation and leadership. During her college years, she met her husband David Berdichevsky and they got married after dating for two months in February of 1958. It was true love, they enjoyed 41 years of marriage until David's death from pancreatic cancer in 1999. Their two children, Stas and Olia, expanded Inga's family and she became a grandmother to 5 grandkids and dedicated mother-in-law to Irina.
In 1994 Inga and family immigrated from Moscow to Boston. She was a big advocate and driving force of the immigration. Inga adjusted well in the United States. She learned English. Inga was brave to learn to drive at 67 years old. Her family will always remember funny stories about broken garage doors and mailboxes during her learning period. She enjoyed travelling, knitting, the ocean, Cape Cod, movies, arguing about politics, socializing with friends and actively participated in her children's' family lives.
Inga will be deeply missed by her family.
