Dr. Ira Lable, of Boston, Massachusetts, has died at the age of 83.
Dr. Lable was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 16, 1941, and was a graduate of Syracuse University and the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Upon graduation, Dr. Lable served as a Captain in the United States Air Force as a military doctor based in Japan. After completing his military service, he moved to Boston to begin his residency in Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Lable spent over fifty years practicing as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, dedicating himself to helping those in need. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and spent his life teaching the next generation of doctors. Dr. Lable was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and possessed a lifelong passion for learning.
Dr. Lable was predeceased by his mother, Goldie Lable; his father, Morris Lable; and his brother, Eliot Lable. He is survived by his wife, Esther Lable; his two sons, Stephen and Jeff Lable, both of Los Angeles, California; two daughters-in-law, Cori Lable and Charis Tjoeng; and three grandchildren who were the lights of his life, Benjamin Lable, Dara Lable and Noah Lable.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2 PM at the Framingham/Natick Jewish Cemetery, 40 Fairview Avenue, Natick.
