Irwin Leav

Irwin Leav, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 4, 1937, to Solomon and Sadie Leav. Irwin was the husband of Lois (Lefton) Leav and father of Brett and Ross Leav. His sister Elaine Kraus passed away in 2021.

Irwin was a graduate of The Ohio State University earning Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees in 1961 and 1965, respectively and also served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1962. He completed a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School and residency in Veterinary Pathology at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital before joining the faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine. Irwin was part of the founding faculty of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University where he also served as Associate Dean.
