Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on November 7, 1959, Jeff was the son of the late Fred Cohen and Gloria Klein. He was raised in Swampscott and graduated from Swampscott High School in 1978. An experienced accounting professional, Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree from Clark University in 1982 and his master’s in accounting from Bentley College in 2000. He took great pride in his Jewish heritage, which remained a cornerstone of his identity throughout his life.
Jeff was a man of many passions. He was an avid Red Sox fan, played on local softball fields, and a master strategist as a Strat-O-Matic Baseball Manager, traveling across the northeast to compete in tournaments. He also found joy in community theater, bringing energy and heart to every production he participated in. Jeff took pride in his professional career and deeply valued the relationships he built while working at Jay Cashman, Middlesex Corporation, and West Coast Distributing.
Beyond his professional and recreational pursuits, Jeff was known for his warmth and his dry, affectionate wit. He was a constant presence in the lives of his family, always eager to stay connected and share in their joys.
He is survived by his sister, Ellen Cohen Hauskens; his nephews, Jacob Hauskens, Samuel Hauskens, and Matthew Cohen; and his niece, Heather Leach. He also leaves behind 8 grand nieces and nephews, and many beloved cousins and lifelong friends who will miss his spirit and his presence. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Cohen.
