My favorite teacher growing up, I used to always go to her class in the morning before I had to go to my other classes to get snoopy stickers everyday from second to fifth grade. She always knew how to connect with me and made me feel loved when things were difficult at home. Thank you for everything!

She was and always will be one of my favorite teachers. I will never forget the time she came to my house with get well cards and the class bear when I had my appendix taken out in first grade. She was always so caring and was truly a remarkable teacher. She has made an impact on so many. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends. She will be missed.

We were all saddened to hear of  Joan's passing. She was an inspiration for both our sons.
Both Michael and David had her and loved her enthusiasm for Snoopy. I had the pleasure of incorporating art projects, snoopy themed of course in her classroom. We know Joan enjoyed wearing the different snoopy sweatshirts I made her for the different holidays. Besides being a great teacher she was a wonderful person. Mrs. Wernick's sense of humor and love of her profession will be greatly missed. She went out of her way to get to know us as well as she did our daughter, and she always stopped to chat or say hello to us long after Lili was no longer one of her students. Her loss is deeply felt by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her.

It is a sad day for Sharon education. Joan had my yougest son this year and was a breath of fresh air. Her loving, diciplined approach to education made her class feel valued. She will be missed by the whole community she touched.

My deepest sympathy to Joan's husband and daughter.  So sorry to hear of her passing. She was a great individual. May God give her family the strength to get through this time of sorrow.

Mrs. Wernick not only touched the lives of the students in her classroom but every child that passed through the halls of Cottage Street School. Joan only had my youngest in her class but my oldest has fond memories of her too. I had the privilege of volunteering in her class and witness her passion for teaching and the love for her students. RIP.

Our oldest daughter had Mrs. Wernick for first grade last year. We were always so grateful for the humor she brought to her teaching and her palpable enthusiasm for learning, for herself and her students. Through her Miss Olivia stories she shared so much of her love for her family and life outside of school with our daughter, and our family is holding yours in our thoughts at this difficult time.

I am so saddened to hear of Mrs. Wernick's passing. She was one of the best teachers I've ever met. She was kind, smart, creative, hard working and always had her students' best interest in mind. She worked so hard to make each child feel special. It's been many years since Zach and Ethan were in her class, but I will never forget the impact she had on them. You will be missed, Mrs. Wernick...???

Joan's untimely passing has touched the hearts of so many just as her life's passion impacted the lives of those lucky enough to have had her as their teacher or simply just to know her. Our daughter Dana thrived in Joan's creative classroom. I was lucky enough to enjoy a ninth/first grade story book collaboration with her many times. She understood the need for ninth graders to have recess and revisit the fun of elementary school.  God bless you, Joan, and peace to your family.

Joan, Mrs.Wernick, was the best 1st base stop for our children Jordan, now in pre-med, and Max a senior.  Besides the gift of teaching and love she showed them, and all who entered the world of Snoopy, I would have not had changed professions and just completed 12 years of teaching. So sorry to hear of Joan's passing.  She was an exceptional teacher.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Even though our sons were not fortunate enough to have Mrs. Wernick for First Grade, she touched the lives of everyone who passed through the Cottage doors. She will be missed!

Too many great memories to list since Joan moved just down the street from me at 12 years old. I am so glad that I got to see her in January. I am proud to call her friend. She will be missed. My love to Lee and Naomi.

We are very sorry for your loss.  My son, Conrad, and my daughter, Kate, had Joan in 2010-11 and 2012-13.  I have often said she is THE teacher that they will remember for the rest of their lives.  She was an incredible person, role model and educator.  She will continue to inspire all of us.

My son had Joan in second grade. He is now 39. She was a wonderful and unique teacher and he learned so much from her. I also a teacher learned from her when I took part in her class room. My heartfelt condo lances go out to her family. She will be surely missed and remembered for the wonderful person she was.
