Jord Poster, founder and Chairman of Boston-based Charity Partners and a member of the founding team at Priceline.com passed away August first, after a battle with non-smokers lung cancer. He was 56 years old.
Jord was a major force in the media, sports, entertainment and philanthropic worlds. He created Priceline.com's Negotiator character, played by William Shatner. In 2005 he created Charity Partners and its online site, Tickets for Charity.com, the first and largest free charitable fundraising platform, pioneering the concept of using a portion of proceeds from pro sports and concert ticket sales to fund charities. Since its inception, Tickets for Charity has raised nearly 20 million dollars for charities.
Prior to joining Priceline in 1997, Jord Poster was Division President of American Express VIP Service, an alliance between Synapse Group (a Time Warner Company) and American Express, and had also been a Senior Vice President at Hill Holiday a Boston-based advertising and marketing agency.
Jord was born in Boston in 1956 and attended Cornell University. He is survived by his two beloved young sons, Will and Ben, wife Allison, brother Mathieu, sister and brother-in-law Elisa and Brad Shannon, and mother Lois Poster, as well as many close friends and associates. He will be sorely missed.
