April 22, 1953 – May 9, 2018
Joseph “Joe” Goldstein of Framingham (formerly of Portland, ME) passed away suddenly on May 9, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family. He was the son of the late Jacob and Esther (Bereznik) Goldstein. He was the loving husband of 42 years to his beloved wife Ellen (Shumrak) Goldstein of Framingham, the loving and devoted father of Marissa Goldstein of Framingham, Cory Goldstein of Framingham, and Cara Goldstein and her husband Brendan DeMango of Medford, the brother of Toby (Goldstein) Chiasson and her husband Ronald of Westborough. Joe was also the loving “dada” and best buddy to his chihuahua, “Romeo”. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, in-laws, cousins, friends and Masonic Brothers. Joe and Ellen married in 1976. They travelled the world together before settling down to have children of their own. Joe and Ellen’s selflessness lead them to adopt two beautiful babies from Santiago, Chile, their daughter Marissa, and a year later their son Cory. A few years later they were pregnant with their third child, their daughter, Cara. Joe was a sincere and devoted friend, mentor and colleague to many. Joe was a pharmacist for over 40 years. He cared deeply for his profession and for each Patient that he encountered. His professional expertise made him a great resource to those who knew and worked with him. His aptitude for language and writing lead him to publish multiple journals, publications and two books in his lifetime. He loved to boast his publications and often referred to it as “relentless self-promotion”. His sense of humor, wisdom and brilliance will be deeply missed by all of those who had the chance to know him. Joe loved being a Freemason. He was loved by his Masonic brothers. He was an accomplished & highly decorated Freemason whose “Masonic Career” culminated in serving as the personal representative of Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts to his beloved Fifth Masonic District, as the Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master.

Joey was a childhood friend from Caleb Street, Portland, ME.
Our families were very close and Joey and my family shared a carpool to school.
He was a leader from the early days.
brilliant, top student, good friend, dedicated to family
May his family be comforted.

Joey and I were childhood friends. His family lived across the street from my family on Caleb Street in Portland, Maine. We shared a closeness with Jack, Esther, Toby and Joey. I saw him at our 40th High School reunion after many, many years. I was shocked to hear of his passing. My condolences to Jury's family and Ruby's family.

Ellen, Marissa, Cory, Cara and Brendan, my heart is broken over the loss of one the best men God ever put on this earth. Joe always made me laugh when he was telling a joke, whether it was funny or not. He had this way of looking at you like he knew something that you just didn’t get. Joe was always kind and had great compassion for his fellow man. I will miss his words of wisdom, and also the sarcastic ones he said but always with great love. I hope you all can find the strength and courage that Joe would want you to have to continue living knowing he is always with you. I love you all so much. Rest in a peace, sweet Joe.💕
