Of Newton, MA, and Newmarket, NH, on December 26, 2022 at the age of 63. Devoted father of Hayley Zukerberg. Beloved husband of Cynthia Collins. Dear brother of Janet Bragg and Emily Zukerberg. Former husband of Kimberly Zukerberg. Devoted stepfather of Michaela Durrant. Preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Helen (Frank) Zukerberg and brother-in-law, Larry Bragg.
Lawrence was born to Nathan and Helen Zukerberg on August 12th, 1959, in West Orange, NJ. Surrounded by a loving family, his early childhood was filled with moments skating with his sisters, and spending time with the family pets. Pursuing a career in medicine, Lawrence attended undergraduate studies at Princeton University where he graduated summa cum laude. Lawrence earned his MD from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and went on to complete his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He spent the next three decades with Massachusetts General Hospital providing expertise in Pathology but was more broadly known for his puppy dog smile, sense of humor, and joie de vivre in Warren 2.
While Lawrence’s professional side was remarkable, it was his personal side that made him so very special. He was truly among the kindest, most generous, gentle, and unpretentious people. He was funny and irreverent - he had a great laugh and he knew how to make other people smile. He was a stock market guru and loved discussing anything related to the stock market and investments. Lawrence loved his family very much. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Cindy and an affectionate father to his daughter Hayley. In addition to his devotion to the human members of his family, he was completely besotted with his dogs, all of which were playful, good-natured animals that ranged from large to enormous. Lawrence left us too soon, leaving the world not quite as bright a place as it was with him in it. We will all feel his loss for a long time.
Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA on Friday, December 30 at 1:00 PM.
To honor Dr. Zukerberg’s life and memory, remembrances may be directed to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). Information to follow regarding a memorial in the Spring.
