He was my madrich--what else can I say--I try to emulate the sichot I learned how to do from him here at Harvard where I do research and elsewhere. he made an impact on me as did his former wife Zelda at Midwest camp Habonim in Michigan. May his memory be a blessing to his children, his grand children and to Ruth and her family--Jack Nusan and Raya Porter, newton, Mass.

My condolensces--hard word to spell--I missed the funeral. He was my madrich, in the best sense of that word--always challenging, pushing me, to clarify, to give the best sicha I can give, which I try to do now at....Harvard..where I do research on resistance to Nazis during the Holocaust. he made an impact on my life and on many others--our time at Camp Tabor--Midwest camp Habonim, esp with his former wife Zelda fein--were memeorable. I was truly saddened to hear the news about Rashi. I always enjoyed spending time with Rashi. Conversations were lively, intelligent and full of humor. He was so warm and engaging, and interested in my life and my family's. It was so clear how much Rashi valued and loved his family and other relationships. Rashi provided comfort to me when my mom passed away and was a good, good friend of my Dad's. Our thoughts, hugs and kind wishes are with Ruth and the Fein family. Steve, Claudia, and Rosen Family

It was a pleasure to have known "Leibel" for many years.  First as his primary care physician for more than 15 years and later as a fellow advocate for J street where I had occasion to see him in his "academic lair" in the leather district of Boston.   We had occasion to chat extensively at the last J street encounter approximately six months ago.  I was always impressed by his keen intellect and sense of community and concern about big issues.

Leonard was one of my favorite people that I met thru BJMF, He was a BJMF Advisory Board member in the truest sense, a mensch and a mentor. He was generous in heart and always found time to talk with me and critique any writing I would share with him. When he smiled/beamed after a concert, I knew it was a good one. My only comfort is knowing that in the world to come, he is already welcoming people and inspiring them to stand for what is right and to be the best and kindest they can be.
