

Lois Jane Libenson (Aaronson), age 68, died suddenly on March 3, 2012, in her home in Sun City Center, Florida. She leaves her husband of 48 years, Michael, her daughters Laurie Yablon & her husband Brian, Shari Rotman & her husband David, her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jonathan and Will Yablon and Rebecca Rotman. Lois joins her beloved granddaughter, Samantha Rotman, who predeceased her. She also leaves her beloved sister Phyllis Barmak and Phyllis’ dear friend, Saul Fern, as well as many nephews, nieces, beloved relatives and many friends.
Lois’s teaching career spanned four decades, all at the Chickering Elementary School in Dover, MA. She was a captain in the Hanscom Wing of the Massachusetts Civil Air Patrol and director of the Massachusetts wing’s aerospace education program. She wrote articles on space education for elementary school teachers and taught science education at Boston College. She was a licensed pilot who spent two weeks in the Soviet Union’s Star City Cosmonaut Training Center as one of a dozen American teachers who could have been selected to fly with a Soviet space ship as a cross cultural exchange following the Christa MacAuliffe tragedy. Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at the Liberty Progressive Cemetery, Everett, MA.
The family will sit Shiva at the home of Lois and Michael Libenson commencing Thursday, March 8, 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm, Friday, 2-4 pm, Saturday evening, 7-9 pm and Sunday 1-4 pm.
Remembrances may be made to “Sammy Rides”, 1005 Regal Manor Way, Sun City Center, FL, 33573, a fund which dedicates its proceeds to pediatric cancer research.
