Lynne Robinson Bookstein, adored mother, grandmother, and wife died peacefully at her home in Chestnut Hill on October 2, 2018 after a long dementia-related illness. Lynne collected friends everywhere that she went and was always busy helping others, dispensing much sought after advice, and creating impromptu feasts, preferably at someone else’s house. She had a wonderful, sharp sense of humor and attracted friends from all ages and social groups. Lynne had an extraordinary way of instantly connecting with people and making life special. She was born in Lowell, MA, attended Rogers Hall Prep School, and earned both a B.S. and Masters Degree from Simmons College. Lynne was a fashion model in the 1960’s, a wife, mother, and student in the 1970’s and a Vice President of Advertising at WCRB Classical Radio in the 1980s and 1990s. After retiring, she mentored women at Wellspring in Gloucester, MA, served on the Rockport Cultural Council, and perfected her garden and her bridge game, while spoiling her grandchildren every chance that she got. Throughout her life, Lynne was a passionate believer in protecting women, animals, and the Earth. In order to teach her young children about the importance of protecting the environment, Lynne created the game, Living Things, which was sold in the gift shop at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC. Lynne had a much-loved sister, Nancy Moss who predeceased her in 2017 and a brother, Peter Robinson, whom she lost in 2015. She was the dear daughter of the late Maxwell and Sophie (Lax) Robinson. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Bookstein and her two daughters, Wendy Willrich (Michael) and Dari Pillsbury (Chris) and four grandchildren (Max and Emily Willrich and Jack and Callie Pillsbury) who, like the rest, were so lucky for the time they got to share with her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Temple Beth Elohim, 10 Bethel Road, Wellesley. Interment to follow at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton. Shiva will be held from 1:00-4:00 on Friday at the home of Wendy and Michael Willrich and on Sunday October 7 from 7:00-9:00 PM at The Farm Condominiums, 99 Florence Street Chestnut Hill at The Boathouse. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynne’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, https://alz.org.
