Manny died peacefully early in the morning of January 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after an almost 3-year battle with breast cancer. She was 65. Manny, of Brookline, MA, is survived by her husband Robert Krawitz, her identical twin Patricia Gani and sister Norma Granville, her half-sister Pamela Gani, her half-brother Grant Gani, her nieces Jessica Granville and her husband Matthew Naturman, and Julia Cohen and her husband Roni Levin, and her nephews David Cohen and his wife Alexandra Puig, and Adam Cohen.
Manny was born in Paris, France, the daughter of Liliane and Joseph Gani, and immigrated to the United States at a young age. She graduated from Brookline High School in 1977 and Simmons College (now Simmons University) in 1981. She met Robert in 1994 and settled in Brookline after their 1996 marriage, where they remained. Manny and Robert enjoyed traveling for many years, either by themselves or with other members of the Gani clan. She enjoyed hiking with Robert and spent much time in the company of their dogs. She became an avid fan of the Boston professional sports teams.
Manny joined CVS Pharmacy upon graduation, rising quickly to the level of District Manager. Following her long tenure at CVS, she joined Staples also as a district manager before embarking on a rewarding second career as a clinical medical assistant at Atrius Health. Manny was always a very generous soul, eager to assist others. She found medicine to be her true calling, where she made an enormous impact on the patients, many of whom fondly remember her to this day, and to the providers. Her generosity was not forgotten during her illness, where during the later stages she received visits every day.
A private ceremony was held with the close family in attendance. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 18, at 2 PM at the Hancock Village Community Center, One Hancock Village Drive, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
The family asks that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrf.org) in Manny’s name.
