Marjorie Siegel, aged 95 of Sudbury, passed away on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025. For 63 years, beloved wife of Dr. George Siegel.
A loving and devoted matriarch, she was mother to Jayne Gandrup (and her husband Peter Gandrup) and Laura Siegel (and her husband Bob Wenokur), grandmother to Jennifer Gandrup Sackheim (and her husband Josh Sackheim), Eric Gandrup (and his wife Erin Gandrup), Cameron Freedman and Hailey Freedman, and great-grandmother to Eleanor Marjorie Gandrup.
She was predeceased by her parents Israel and Rena Weiner and her cherished brother Harold Weiner.
Though she was a member of the silent generation, her life was anything but. Marjorie was born on September 25th, 1930, in Roxbury, MA. As a young woman she attended the prestigious Katharine Gibbs Secretarial College. She later met her beloved husband Dr. George Siegel and within seven weeks the two were engaged. They married in 1956.
In the late 50’s she lived on a military base in Fort Lee, Virginia where her husband was stationed and where their eldest daughter was born. Afterwards they moved to Sudbury, MA where they decided to put down roots and had their second daughter.
As the wife of a prominent pediatrician, she herself took a strong interest in community medical efforts. As a founding member of Temple Beth El, she ran blood testing for Tay Sachs disease within the Sudbury Jewish community. She served on the board of the Visiting Nurses Association and also ran a local cancer fund alongside her husband.
Additionally, she served as President of the Sudbury Newcomers Club and was Social Chair of the Sudbury Swim & Tennis Club.
A voracious reader and a lifelong advocate of education, in 1978 she began working as librarian at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. It was a role she cherished for 14 years.
When she wasn’t volunteering her time or dutifully raising her family Marjorie loved learning about history, discussing politics, and regularly entertaining at the home she and George built from the ground up.
Services will be held Monday, December 22nd, 2025 at 11 am at Congregation Or Atid, 97 Concord Road, Wayland, MA. Interment will take place immediately following services at the New Town Cemetery, 357 Concord Road, Sudbury, MA.
