Marsha E. (Gordon) Bornstein

Marsha Ellen Bornstein, age 73, of Framingham, formerly of Belmont, passed away on May 7, 2021. Marsha was the beloved wife of Robert L. Bornstein of Framingham, devoted mother of Matthew & Jamie (Rutledge) Bornstein of Wilmington, and Zachary & Beth (Wasserman) Bornstein of New York, NY. She was the adoring “Mimi” of Ryan, Jordan, Sammy, Julia and Hannah Bornstein. She was the daughter of the late Norman & Ruth (Levine) Gordon of Belmont, daughter-in-law of the late James & Charlotte (Weiner) Bornstein of Brookline, dear sister of Howard & Barbara (Jacobs) Gordon of Belmont and Steven & Cynthia (Dewar) Bornstein of Methuen. Marsha is further survived by her nieces, Johanna (Gordon) Zelman of W. Hartford, CT, Ilana (Gordon) Goddess of Newton, Andrea (Gordon) Cohn of Queens, NY, and nephews, Jason Bornstein of Danville, NH and Sean Bornstein of Lowell.

Marsha met her husband, Bob, while they both worked for Lechmere in Cambridge, married in 1971 and moved to their home in Framingham in 1978. This October, Bob and Marsha would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Marsha graduated from LaSalle College in 1970 and received her degree in education. She started her career working in healthcare, and then eventually taking over her mother’s hair salon in Belmont. She transitioned into a new career in 1989, working for Middlesex Savings Bank. Throughout her successful 30+ year career with MSB, she worked her way up to Branch Manager, Loan Officer and a Vice President of the bank, eventually finding her “work home” in Ashland. Marsha was loved by her coworkers and customers alike, making many long-lasting friendships and helping to advance the careers of countless MSB employees. She was a devoted volunteer for the Lions Club of Ashland and for many years as their Treasurer, and sat on the Education Board of Directors for the YMCA in Framingham. Those who knew Marsha would never find her without her hair perfectly styled, her nails freshly done, impeccably dressed everywhere she went, and with a huge smile on her face.

While she was committed to her work, volunteering and her many successful achievements, if you asked Marsha, her greatest accomplishment was her family. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved having the grandchildren over to the house for sleepovers, playtimes, and treating them to her amazing cooking skills. Marsha never missed an opportunity to attend her grandkids’ sports games and dance recitals, volunteered in their classrooms, and cheered them on every chance she got, beaming with pride along the way.

Due to the current health crisis, funeral services are private. Memorial observance at the Bornstein residence on Tuesday, May 11 from 11am-1pm and from 4pm-7pm.
