Michael David Winer

Michael David Winer, age 92 years, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL on Friday, July 29, 2022. Raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, Mike was educated at Phillips Academy and Harvard College. After serving in the Navy, he received an MBA from Harvard Business School and joined his family business Elm Farm Foods, which operated supermarkets throughout New England. Mike rose to become a top executive of the company at the time it was sold in 1968.

For the next decade Mike ran a number of entrepreneurial ventures, including a Barbizon Modeling School franchise in Florida and New England Wood Products, a manufacturing company in Townsend, MA. In 1977 he founded Andover Securities Corporation, which grew to become one of the largest specialist operations on the Chicago Stock Exchange. He loved his team of traders and thoroughly enjoyed the business.

After more than two decades, Mike sold the company in 2000 and began to devote more time to philanthropy. He sponsored programs at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Phillips Academy, and the Commission for Jewish Education of Palm Beach County, and engaged in other charitable and educational endeavors.

Mike had a lifelong passion for playing golf. In the 1980s he moved to Palm Beach Gardens, but he still enjoyed following the Boston sports teams.

He is survived by Marilyn, his beloved wife of 69 years; their three sons Jonathan, Robert (Renae), and Richard; four grandchildren Jenny, Abby, Marissa (Michael), and Aaron; and one great grandchild Lila. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie Bloom and his parents, Hy and Rose Winer.
